Successful Harlem Wizards show

The February 17 basketball game featuring District 58 staff, students and community members versus the Harlem Wizards played to a sell-out crowd and raised more than $10,000 for the District 58 Education Foundation and its many wonderful programs in support of District 58 students and schools.

Thank you to all of the players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and spectators who made it an evening to remember!

District 58 is ready to take on the Harlem Wizards on Feb. 17 with a dynamic team of more than 30 students, staff and community members! Each middle school basketball team and coach chose one player to represent their team for a total of eight student players, and student volunteers from our elementary schools will be instrumental in providing support to our hard-working team. District 58 Education Foundation gives away more than $35,000 in grants to schools

A “one school, one book” reading program, iPads, interactive whiteboards, a middle school initiative called Rachel’s Challenge, and a digital piano for the district’s music program were among the nearly two dozen grant requests funded by the District 58 Education Foundation for 2012-13. Altogether the Foundation, which was founded in 2002 to enhance the education of students in District 58 and its 13 schools, gave away more than $35,000 in grants this school year.
